The best place to locate financial aid and Pell grant application is at the government website. It is free to apply for consideration. It taps into federal and state along with college need based financial aid. Also, it includes the federal work study program with college campus jobs. The form becomes available after January 1 for the fall semester or quarter. Here are some additional sources to locate money for college.

First, current high school seniors can locate local scholarships at the high school guidance office.

Second, the college financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will include some scholarships, too.

Third, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships based on hobbies, college majors, ethnicity, school activities, sports, and even one for wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered into a form on its website.

Good luck!
