Burnout may present itself in at least a couple of ways. One is a sort of dissociation. You just don't care about anything anymore and feel sarcastic or have a newfound cynical view of everything. Or, you might start feeling depressed, easily set off, or become otherwise very emotional at even relatively small triggers. Exhaustion is common to high stress, but exhaustion doesn't equal burnout.
