...and that in order to turn things around, we need to become less focused on self and more charitable towards our neighbor? And also, increase our love and trust in our Creator?

Ever since Satan and the demons were thrown down to the earth, man has had to contend, not only with the sinful nature which he inherited from his ancestors in the Garden of Eden, but also with the anger that Satan and the demons are taking out on us because they are unable to go back and forth to heaven as they once were. Of course, the things you suggest would help but only God will be able to really turn things around.

People have been saying this since the dawn of recorded history. If it were true, the world would have been an amazing place just a thousand years ago.

Are we more evil than during the dark ages, when people were being burned as witches on a very regular basis? How about all the people that were tortured during the inquisition? Are we more evil that during that time?

Don't just look things in a shallow way - think things through to their logical conclusion.

No - the past only looks rosy and virtuous because people don't generally talk about the bad. Selective memory, I guess.

Go to a library with a good collection of historical newspapers and read a few dozen for several communities. You will thank your lucky stars that you live in present times.

Then read some Charles Dickens.

No, I think in order to turn things around, the media needs to stop showing so much negative stuff just to sell newspapers. Try reporting on the positives. For instance, Instead of just reporting on how many soldiers died in Iraq today, why not follow it up with how many schools and water lines we built there too. It just seems like the media always focuses on the negative aspects of everything.

No. The world is as it has been since human civlization started. We only have better media and faster access to information.

Yes we need to be more charitable and less self-focused.

The greatest atrocities of human history have been done in the name of god. I think we should move away from the notion of a creator. IT OBVIOUSLY HASN'T DONE US ANY GOOD YET, and we have been believing in god for 10's of thousands of years!

I agree whole heartedly we also need to cease from judging others and remember what Christ said

(Matt.7:3-5
3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

No what we need to do is take some of those Goths and send them to Guantanamo and let the CIA question them and find out where they are hiding the Vampire Covens. When we find out where the covens are we can send people in with flame throwers and burn them out. That will solve every thing. No more Evil.

Not any more evil, and I wouldn't count on a God(s) to help the problem.

What is increasing, is the technology and weapon supply to people who want to do harm on others, which makes it look like it is an increasing problem, when really the same problem is just gaining more firepower.

Thats crazy! How would love and trust in the flying speghetti monster make things less evil.
I do beleive in helping people help themselves, but to beleive a character of imagination is going to help them is foolish. people should be informed that people care. Saying God cares is like telling a person you don't, and the only reason you are helping them is to secure yourself a place in heaven. you just aren't being genuine

The world has always been an evil place. It's just that we are now exposed to so much more of it through our extensive media outlets.

I can only imagine it getting worse.
