As a breeder and exhibitor of AKC and UKC purebred dogs, I personally have no use for the Continental Kennel Club. I deal ONLY with AKC & UKC (my dogs are dual registered in both) the two oldest dog registries in the country & I am able to trace my dogs' bloodlines back seven generations! I completely follow the AKC & UKC breeder's code of ethics & rules of sportmanship for Conformation & performance events sponsored by each club! The CKC ( Continental Kennel Club) is NOT to be confused with the Canadian Kennel Club which is also a valid kennel club in which exhibitors who show AKC & UKC dogs stateside, may also compete in Canadian shows.I think the Continental KC is something that the puppy millers use to try & add value to their sub-standard stock!

Quite honestly, I have yet to figure out the purpose of the Continental Kennel Club.
It seems to me like they're making money by registering dogs that could otherwise not be registered with an organization such as the AKC (American Kennel Club) - all the CKC requires are two witness signatures attesting that the dog is purebred, and three photos of the dog. And voila, you have "papers".
These papers don't really mean anything, but they allow backyard breeders who are pumping out puppies from parents without health checks, OFA, working titles, etc. to advertise "registered" puppies with "papers" to buyers who then end up paying more for the privilege of having a purebred, "papered" puppy.
The CKC does not seem to put on any events other than "performance" events such as agility - no conformation, or working dog sports of any kind.

The Continental Kennel Club is a scam registry. It was started by irresponsible breeders in order to register dogs who aren't able to be registered in a legit registry, have questionable parantage, whose owners were suspended from doing business with a legit registry, etc. They also are designed to make people believe that they have a registered dog or are buying a registered dog when in fact they don't/aren'tThe "papers" are worthless, not worth the paper they are written on..

They were invented to support puppy mills & backyard breeders (many of whom were kicked out of the AKC for unethical breeding practices): http://www.petpeoplesplace.com/resources/articles/dogs/014-05.htm

I could be wrong but I think they deal with puppy mill puppies. Not like AKC and I would not deal with them.

They don't require pedigree papers. In other words, anything they give you when you register is not worth the paper it's written on.
