My big toenails have gotten thicker, but not nearly as thick as my pinkies.
They also look like I could almost lift them off from the base.
Is it just old age? I'm pushing 50.

I have the same damn thing .My toenails are real thick. I cant even use toenail clippers they are so thick. Sometime they get long and I will hit my toe on something and my whole damn toe nail will come off.I saw on tv where you can get this medicine for that. It is called some kind of fungus. and you have to take the medicine for 3 or more months. I cant afford to buy medicine that long.Your pushing 50 I will be 50 this year.

Actually, that sounds more like it might be a side effect of some medication you might be taking. If you are taking medication, try googling the prescription names to see if anyone else has reported similar symptoms or consult your doctor to see if that might be the case.

its probably a type of nail fungus. show your dr, they can treat it easily
