She may be like my cats, and be drinking from leaking faucets, toilet bowls, and even from the bathtub after someone showers. I don't know why they do this... the water is fresher maybe?

Watch, I bet she's just got another favorite source for her water. But make sure there's a water bowl down anyways, just in case.

Cats don't actually need a lot of water. They are able to extract quite a lot of their daily requirements from the food they eat.

If Brownies is an outdoor cat, she may be getting what she needs outdoors, but water should always be available, especially if she is on a dried food diet (to avoid urine infections).

Try placing her water bowl in a different location to her food bowl. Cats would not naturally expect there to be a water source in the same place as their food source.

Make sure that you change her water every day - cats don't like stale water.

If Brownies still doesn't seem interested after a few days, try offering cat milk as an alternative. Our cats love the Felix Cat Milk, which is sold in portion size bottles.

Best of luck.x

My cat "Pedro" drinks only from the bathtub. He likes hot water, as odd as it sounds. So we always leave a little water in the bath tub and of course in his bowl. His needs are like ours, he will drink when he's thirsty. Don't stress. Now if he starts acting sluggish or not eating, he may have some problems. Maybe dental or mouth sores or maybe his throat maybe sore. He may have a sore tooth and the water temp hits the nerve. Just keep an eye on him. He should be fine.

Girl when you find out how to get your cat to drink water tell me so maybe my cat will drink water too! LOL My cat, Callie, is almost 3 yrs old and I have never seen this cat drink water from any source. She also will only eat one type of food, Wiskas Chef's Choice. It's slices of meat in a good bit of sauce. So the only thing I figure is that she gets enough water from the juice in her food. I've tried everything to get her to take water but she just won't have it. I've never caught her once in 3 yrs drinking from toilets, faucets, or tubs so it's safe to say that she isn't doing any of those things.

Get an electric water dish. Cats love moving water that's also part of the reason animals drink out of the toilet because the water is constantly changed.

Just make sure she has clean, fresh water available at all times. Cats only drink a couple tablespoons worth of water every day, so you may not notice when any water is gone from the dish.

It is a normal instinct for cats to drink water when they need it. However, if you are feeding your cat canned cat food or human food, the cat may be getting enough liquids from those foods. If you are feeding the cat dry food and she is not drinking water, then i would suggest you get her to the vet since severe dehydration is a pet emergency and can be fatal.

I wouldn't worry about her too much. If she's alive now and she seems healthy, she's drinking enough water to keep herself going. If you're really concerned about it, try turning on the faucet in the bathroom sink so it trickles a little bit. Many cats won't drink standing water. If this does the trick, and you're really concerned about how much water she gets, you can get special fountain style water bowls like this one: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=11536
But seriously, I really wouldn't worry about her as long as she always has access to fresh water.

My mans cat only likes to drink running water. The cat "Chainsaw" don't ask I didn't name it....anyway he will go in and sit on the side of the bathtub until someone turns on the water...then he will drink it. I ended up buying a fountain for him and it works great!

My horse teacher told us when we travel w/ a horse and it doesn't like the water, to put in a kool-aid packet. That would flavor the water and make them drink. So maybe you could do that. I wouldnt put a whole packet in, but a little koolaid. this may give it some flavor that your cat would like, Then maybe you could gradually ween him off the koolaid by putting a little less in each time. Or ask your vet. Good luck,
