I am very close with her. My mom passed away 5 years ago. I want to show her how much I appreciate her friendship, as well as thanking her for her son. I'm getting emotional just writing this! Oh my, anyway...

Also, do you know of an appropriate song I could dance to with her?

This is the poem I gave my MIL when I got married (Had do dig through the internet to find it, but here it is!)

Our Mother

You are the mother I received
The day I wed your son.
And I just want to thank you, Mum
For all the things you've done.

You've given me a gracious man
With whom I share my life.
You are his loving mother and
I his lucky wife.

You used to pat his little head,
And now I hold his hand.
You raised in love a little boy
And gave to me a man.

I'd say go ahead and make her one, I'm sure she would like that over one you purchase from a store because it would be from the heart. Maybe find a quote of a short poem online that would work...you could even search under "stepmother," although she is not, you might find some ideas there.

Good luck and congradulations!

Found online:
Your gentle hands held him close when he was born and his brand new world was safe
Your strong hands picked him up when he fell down so new experiences with courage he could face.
Your tender hands pulled him back when he tried to fly too soon--
yet they knew that the time was near.
And when life called out to him, your hands lifed wide to the sky and he soared with nothing to fear.
Your loving hands shaped a little boy into a wonderful man,
and I feel blessed by God above.
Because today is the day you will give him to me...
to cherish and to love.

Maybe one of these songs would be good...
Bette Midler :Wind Beneath My Wings
Elton John: You'll Be Blessed
Josh Groban: You Raise Me Up
Leeann Womak: I Hope You Dance
Kenny Rogers: Through the Years
Mariah Carey: I'll Be There
Deon warwick: That's what friends are for

Blue Mountain Arts makes some really beautiful cards with some really great messages inside. I know you can find them at Crackel Barrell and Books A Million.

this isnt a song but its a super cute idea to show her that you care
in your bouquet have them set one flower that is removable so when your walking away you can take it out and give it to your fiance..to hand to her..
it will be like your gift to her from you

that is really sweet of you; wind beneath my wings; stand by me; a handwritten note with your sentiments and some flowers; not much better than that
