Valentines day is supposed to be an observance for a priest in Rome who suffered martyrdom about AD 269.
The syrupy, comercialized holiday of today is just halmark's and hershey's excuse to sell you crap.

No, it's not bad to hate Valentine's Day. I can't stand the holiday, whether or not I'm single at the time. It's just a Hallmark Holiday where boyfriends and girlfriends, husbands and wives are pretty much obligated to show their love with red roses, chocolates, diamonds, etc. I think the world would be a much better place if people showed that kind of love (and not just the material kind) for no reason at all, on some random day of the week. Case in point, my parents are very unhappily married and fight all the time, but still get each other Valentine's Day presents. C'mon, what a joke.

Of course it isn't! Consumerism has led us to stress out over dates that have nothing to do with our actual way of thinking. Valentine's Day is just an example of the many dates that bring us down due to expectations that are far out of our emotional, mental or economic reach. If you look at the reality of the situation, Valentine's day is just another reason to fill the pockets of those in charge.

hi,
no it is not bad to hate v-day. it not bad at all a lot of people like the day. saying that it is a chomped up holiday to show the so called love thing . but on the other hand it is a way to show a woman how much you truly care for her. but if you don't have a sweet heart to love then of cause anyone would hate the day.

Not at all. If you don't have a significant other, or if you have just broken up, then it is perfectly normal. It is the same reaction as people who have lost loved ones--they have trouble at Christmas time.
