The Catholic Church is content to keep its members in darkness concerning the identity of God. It preaches the trinity, although it admits in its research sources that the trinity is not a Bible teaching. For instance: a Catholic authority says that the Trinity "is not . . . directly and immediately [the] word of God."—New Catholic Encyclopedia.
in his book The Triune God, Jesuit Edmund Fortman admits: "The Old Testament . . . tells us nothing explicitly or by necessary implication of a Triune God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. . . . There is no evidence that any sacred writer even suspected the existence of a [Trinity] within the Godhead. . . . Even to see in [the "Old Testament"] suggestions or foreshadowings or 'veiled signs' of the trinity of persons, is to go beyond the words and intent of the sacred writers."
Jesuit Fortman also states: "The New Testament writers . . . give us no formal or formulated doctrine of the Trinity, no explicit teaching that in one God there are three co-equal divine persons. . . . Nowhere do we find any trinitarian doctrine of three distinct subjects of divine life and activity in the same Godhead."
The formulation 'one God in three Persons' was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. . . . Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective."—New Catholic Encyclopedia.
There are also Protestant sources that admit the same thing about the trinity.
It is ironic that the Church continues to teach a lie while shielding its member to the truth about God.

Let me make this answer a little more understandable, for you who have a difficulty with the Christian concept. You see the Roman Catholic Church is not the only Church that sees the Holy Trinity for what it is, to be considered Christian you must believe in the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, because that is the way the Church father's describe it in the Bible.
Also Jesus was not a only a man, becuase if he were a simple man as you put it, he would not come from God, Jesus was fully human and fully divine. He was not one or the other.
Lastly, when you look at yourself in the mirror I am sure you see a little of each of your parents in that reflection. The reflection of God would be in His Son, therefore, Spirit and Human, born of a human mother.
Keep asking, and someday the truth will find you.
God bless you always.

Jesus WAS a man. And also God. This is the central truth of Christianity. And since the Catholic Church is the original Christrian Church, it naturally continues to teach what the Christian Church has always taught. That Jesus Christ, second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, took upon Himself a human nature - became a man - so that He could die to save us from our sins.

He was made by by God his father. He was born to a female woman. (Human)
He was a Man! He was crucified, on the 3rd day he arose from the dead, only God could do that! When you die you will be a spirit as we are promised in the bible because Jesus died to absolve our sins.He then rose to heaven and sits on the right hand of his father,God. Thus the Holy Trinity. God, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
they are also 3 in one as you can be, a father, a son, and when you die a spirit. You actually can be a lot more then one. You can be a brother, a grandson, a nephew, and uncle etc...

It is not just the Roman Catholic Church. The protestant church recognizes the deity of Christ as taught in scripture
In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make. Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:1-5
...But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan-this rebirth comes from God.
So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.
John 1:10-14

No read the Bible again. Jesus was born in human form on earth to die for our sins, which he did. But because He was without sin death had no hold on Him. After 3 days Jesus was resurected out of death and now is sitting at the right hand of His Father. The God Trinity is all God but also each seperate. You will understand if you read the Bible

yet when I tarry long, that thou mayest be conscious of how thou oughtest to talk in the living house of God, that's the CHURCH of the residing God, the pillar and floor of reality. [Tim. 3, 15] And Philip working thereunto, heard him examining Esay the prophet, and he suggested: Trowest thou that thou understandest the flaws which thou readest? Who suggested, and how am i able to, except some guy teach me? and he needed Philip that he might arise and take a seat with him. [Act. 8, 30-31] for the clarification that the Church got here in the past the Bible. by the point Revelation, the final e book of the Bible, substitute into written around one hundred A.D., the Catholic Church substitute into already on its 5th Pope, St. Evaristus. The Roman Catholic Church teaches the Holy Scriptures. Father Joseph is authentic, Christ suggested "Going into the completed international pontificate the Gospel to all creatures." [Mark sixteen, 15] nowhere did Our Lord say Going into the international and write. Why carry out a little Catholics have little awareness with regard to the Bible, merely like various corporation (or group) you have people who're lukewarm, it incredibly is they have not have been given any actual interest in analyzing and learning, they lack the initiative. There are some Catholics who're chilly and lukewarm. yet you fairly shouldn't generalize, there are various Catholics who do be conscious of scripture to boot.

The doctrine of the Holy Trinity in which the one true God is made up of three separate but equal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is shared by most Christian denominations including Roman and Orthodox Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals and Episcopalians.
For many biblical references, see: http://www.cwo.com/~pentrack/catholic/Trinity.txt
