You're probably thinking of Le Creuset, as mentioned above ...the most expensive brand of "enamelled cast iron" cookware. Cooks great though for lots of things!
The most common pieces are usually "Dutch oven" sizes and shapes for making stews, braises, and other things. They can be heated on the stove, then put into the oven as well (so can plain cast iron, but the enamelling makes for smoother surface inside... can also clean them in the normal way with soap and water; no seasoning, etc., required).
There are some cheaper brands of enameled cast iron, but often don't work as well. If you're interested though, the Lodge company (the original and long-time manufacturers of plain cast iron cookware) is now beginning to make enamelled cast iron at less cost than LeCreuset, and should make a very good product.
LeCreuset pieces are often sold at slight to reasonably-good discounts online, at eBay, etc.
The only downside is weight IMO. Love mine.
