It's socially acceptable to have a beer at any time. Having multiple beers at any time is a different story.

Unless you have guests in your home at 7:00 when you get off work it is your private time and the "socially acceptable" aspect doesnt apply.
Either way, you should drink a beer when YOU want to, not when you feel others would find it acceptable.
Live life on your own terms as much as possible, you will be much happier.

makes perfectly good sense to me! you're ending your day with a beer, regardless of the time. if you were waking up around supper time and had a beer, then it would be questionable. it's supper time when most people have a beer, but you are just waking and starting your day so it would be like having beer for breakfast. but drinking at 7am after you get home, then watchin some tv and goin to bed....perfectly normal.

In my humble opinion, there is no socially inacceptable time to drink a delicious beer. Example: my grandmother, God rest her soul, drank beer starting at about 5:30 am on a typical day. (She fished a lot.) If people are so closed-minded as to put a time-limit on drinking hours in today's 24-hour-a-day society, they need to take a hard look in the mirror. Enjoy in moderation!

Beer....it's what's for breakfast! Yes, its fine after working all night you deserve one (or two) before you go to sleep.

I used to work a night shift at a hospital. Fried eggs, toast and some cold beer tasted great when I got home at 7:30 AM

The answers given before this one that say "no" relate to a time when work was based on the sun, on having enough light to work. Terms like "harvest moon" refer to nights when the full moon allowed farmers to work longer to gather the fields. Anyone who drank before noon was obviously a drunkard to be avoided.

With 24/7 service industries common, the standard of not drinking before noon is not automatically correct. I agree with those people who point out that your getting-home-time corresponds to a standard 6 p.m. for those who work days. You may run into people who look askance at you, but you are not wrong.

It's kind of a grey area. If you don't feel you have a problem, then go ahead, man-kegs and eggs. But don't expect a lot of people to join in with you. I only drink beer on mornings when I have a wicked hangover, and that's only in dire circumstances.

If you are drinking in your own home, don't have to go anywhere (like work) and don't plan to drive, what could be the harm? I know a guy who worked 3rd shift. He used to fire up the barbecue at 8am and cook burgers and drink beer.
