After the last birthday party I found my child humping the left over balloons. Should I allow this? I don't know if this is a one time thing. I don't want to scar them by popping the balloons and I still want them to have balloons at parties and I'm not sure how to explain to them that it's wrong. Should I allow them to play with the balloons? Should I break them all after the party next time? Any help is appreciated.

This is a very comman thing for children. Most of the time it it is very innocent and harmless. Young children discover that humping ,as you call it, balloons , pillows, beach balls, anything soft creates a pleasurable feeling. They usually grow out of it. Don't make a big deal out of it unless it becomes an obsession with them. I am assuming this is a young child. If it was an older child I would take a more serious approach

Despite what some people beleive, masterbation whether it is done with the fingers or a balloon, is natural for some children to discover.

What I would do is not worry about the balloons. Let the child have them at parties and even after, but monitor the play, and causually tell the child that that is inappropriate to do, just like you would tell them not to put it in their mouths. Don't make a big fuss don't even change your facial expression. Just tell them once and ask them not to do it, but do not shame the child, that is where the scars come from is being shamed for such behaviors when in fact they have only discovered that that part of the body has a very profound feeling.

I agree with the answers posted above. This is normal for a young children to do. I would let your child know that this is inappropriate behavior but do not ban them from parties. I am not sure of the age your your child but I do know from experience that this is normal for smaller children.
