I was able to file my federal return free but because I work in 1 state and live in another, I had to pay to file in both those states. Can I deduct the filing fees for my '05 return this year since I paid those fees in '06?

Yes you can try, as long as you're already itemizing and that plus a whole bunch of other miscellaneous deductions exceed the 2% income threshold.

From what I understand, the payments won't be stop until it is court ordered. You have to file a motion with the court to have the payments stopped b/c of the age of the child. Better do it asap, she doesn't have to pay anything back b/c no changes have occurred through the court yet.
