You can't see each other. That's what's wrong. You can't talk, touch, hold hands, share your lives-- you're on the phone or writing email. That's now how humans were designed to have relationships. Every second spent together after long periods apart is not how real life is. Real life is day to day.

There is nothing wrong with long distance relationships. As long as you love eachother, then the distance won't matter. Just meet up as often as possible and look forward to the times you get to spend together and the time when you won't be so far apart. I've been in a long-distance relationship for 3 years. When he graduates we'll move in together. It's hard sometimes, but I'd rather have him and only see him everyother weekend then not have him in my life.

It adds excitment to the relationship, you get to feel how it is to miss them and appreciate the time you have together. I'm in a similar relationship because of work. We don't get to see each other as often as we like but we have our chats on the phone and online and we have fun, the tension builds up and we will see each other in 3 weeks and we plan to have the best time ever as always.

There is nothing wrong with them, but over time people tend to get lonely and long for affection (and phone sex don't really cut it, ya know?!). If you can find someone that you can fully trust to be apart from for long periods of time and long distances, then congrats! But not everyone is that lucky!

I don't think it is anything wrong with long distance relationships...my finace and I dated for almost a year while he lived in Myrtle Beach and I lived in Virginia four hours away. It can work if you want it too. All it takes is trust!!!!!!!!

yeah, but the problem lies in the fact that you hardly ever see each other... so if you're willing to put up with that then there's no problem, but it gets annoying to be constantly missing someone and ahrdly ever seeing them... plus, you have all the negative points of a relationship, ie commitment, without the positive ones...

There is nothing wrong with long distant relationships, they are just HARD. Your not fully shareing your life, and it's just HARD. It can be done, but takes a strong couple to cope. What do you have to comfort you when you need someone...the telephone...It's just HARD.

I agree with you 100%. But the trust does need to be there, and that can disappear in a heartbeat.
