Go to the base hospital and get receipts for the cost of your treatment. When your Tricare becomes effective it will be back-dated to the date of your marriage and you will then be able to get reimbursed.

When did you enroll into tricare? if you waited until Jan 20, 2007 ( I think the 20 is the cut off date) then you will have to wait until March 1. 2007. But if there is an emergency then you will be covered at the hospital. You can try and talk to tricare and see if there is a way they can do a rush on it but if not then you will have to wait until March 1. Just because you are married to some one in the military does not automatically enroll you into the health program. you actually have to sign up for it. When you sign up for tricare choose tricare prime it covers more unless you are going to use a base hospital. if you have tricare prime you do not have co-pays excpet for medication which all I have ever had to pay is $3.00 per 30 day perscription. hope this has helped you out.

I live in Tennessee also and I am former Military. Tricare coverage always starts on the first of the month....Today is the first of February so I am not sure why it isn't effective until March.

Have you received a dependent ID yet? Has your husband ensured that you are enrolled in DEERS? Your husband is probably still in training so your conversations may be limited with him, but these things are very important for you to know.

You need to contact the closest tricare office to you find out your options, and you should be able to at least go to a military hospital until you are able to get into a network provider. However, if you live within a certain proximity to a base, you have to use a military facility unless there is a particular reason they can not treat you.

Now, as someone who has had a child. It is very important you start taking some prenatal vitamins at this stage as this is very important early development of the baby. Go to any pharmacy and you should find some for under $20.00 until you can get some prescribed by a doctor. Take care of yourself and do the right things. Drink lots of water and eat healthy....limit your stress, don't let this worry you. For every rule, there are exceptions. You just need to work to find them. If you can not find the tricare office closest to you, e-mail me personally with your city and I will find the number for you.

Good Luck and God Bless!

You should double-check the effective date of the Tricare coverage. You have gained certain benefits just by being married to active duty. You can go to any military clinic/hospital without any "co-pay" charges. I don't think they establish a future date for Tricare. Once you're enrolled, it should be effective immediately. But check that out.

Husband says Tricare starts immediately. Your husband should have enrolled you in DEERS the day after you married. If you have a dependent ID, you are enrolled in DEERS and all you need to do is go to the on post hospital or clinic.

Why doesn't your tricare start until 1 March? As his dependent, Tricare should cover you now, assuming he's enrolled you. If not, he needs to. If he has enrolled you, and they're not covering you, he needs to make some noise about it. You're covered as of your wedding date or his entry date, whichever is later.

You won't qualify for Medicaid due to your husband's income

You CAN however, as his dependent go to any military hospital for care; and then pay the small 'co-pay'

i think, you can avail of the benefits as soon as you can. your hubby is in the army, so his benifits (including his benificiaries)
should be given to you as his wife, without any hassles.
