you should consult a physician and ask how many calories, fat grams, carbs etc. are healthy for someone your weight....as for the exercise...find something you enjoy doing....ex: you have kids...maybe take them for a walk or go to the park...etc.

The love of carbs, THANK GOD, is a condition that goes away when you don't eat carbs for three days. If you can handle a low carb diet for three days, the rest is easy. then you can add carbs but in whole form (whole wheat or any whole grain).
The exercise part can be easy. Can you do 8 minutes of exercise everyday? If you can pledge 8 minutes, there is a book called "8 minutes in the morning" by Jorge Cruise. It's a wonderful program and you lose 2 pounds per week, the right way.
Check it out, it's for people who don't have a lot of time and or resources to go and exercise. You only need two barbells and the book. No special foods or equipment. It's terrific.

Oh, I love my carbs too. But I balance it with cheese and meat for protein. Exercise doesn't have to be the gym or jogging 5 miles a day. Take the kids out for a stroll up and down or around the block. Walk purposefully and at a good pace. The kids get fresh air and gradually you'll walk more. I used to do 2 miles a day and lost 40 pounds!

There's no way you can do that without exercise... you could still have carbs, but exercising... if you don't exercise, but still have all those carbs and fats and all that, you are getting more problems, not only weight, but high blood pressure, excess lipids in your bloodstream leading to arterioschlerosis, possible diabetes, and a chain of conditions derived from these.

My advice in this case would be, cut the total calories.... although the best would be exercising and following a diet... a healthy one given to you by a nutritionist.

I don't know the ages of your children, but if you say you don't like to exercise, make it play instead. Run around and do active things with your kids, at the park, dancing crazily around your living room, playing chase, hide & seek, whatever. It will be great quality time spent with your kids, and burn some calories for you too. If your kids are too yound to much running around, push them around in the stroller, or do some "weight lifting" with the baby as the weight! It's fun!
As for the carbs, try not to overdo them too much, try and make them healthy carbs, whole grains and stuff. Cut back on the processed "white" carbs especially the ones with lots of sugar! But do allow yourself a reward now and then. Don't get too restrictive or you'll never stick with it.

Good luck, and remember it probably won't all fall off overnight, or at least it shouldn't!

20 lbs is going to take a much longer time if you dont exercise. Limit your carbs to only a couple times per week. Eat more protein and fiber... and eat less!

Join weightwatchers - you can eat what you want - just stay within your allotted points.

Try doing something you enjoy for exercise - like dancing, or taking a stroll in the park with your children.

One thing you could try is to eat slower. That way you'll feel full before eating to much.
