Canadian spelling Check --> Cheque?

How would Checking Account be properly spelled? Also, is Cheque standard or regional based for this spelling?

'Cheque' is spelled like this in all of Canada.

"Cheque" is the proper and almost always official or legal spelling but you would be universally understood and infrequently criticized were you to use "checking account".
