My Fiance' is a musician (rock) & we would like an appropriate song for our first dance (think rock band with a love song). We really like Bruce Springsteen as well as the Police. Any suggestions in this realm of music?

The Pretenders - "I'll Stand by You"
Edwin McCain - "I Could Not Ask For More"
Sting - "Fields of Gold"
Genesis - "Follow You, Follow Me"
Queen - "One Year Of Love"
Dave Matthews Band - "Steady As We Go"
5 for Fighting - "The Riddle"
Van Morrison - "Into The Mystic"

Don't know if that's any help - I love all those songs (look up the lyrics to some of them - incredibly beautiful!!), and maybe they'll get you thinking!

Congratulations, and good luck!

Try the song "Bullet" by Mat Kearney. It's kinda slow and has great lyrics, but it's not the same kind of sappy first dance songs a lot of people use. I think it would be a hit, especially if you're looking for something a little more on the rock side of things. Good luck!

As long as it's a song that is important to you guys. Heck if he's a musician perhaps he can compose something for the 2 of you. We danced to "Make Me Do" by Helix for our wedding and I've seen things as strange as "Fishing in the Dark" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...like I said it should be something that is yours as a couple.

I've always loved "you and me" by lifehouse
"long time comming" by oliver james
"chasing cars" by snow patrol

oh! and I know you didn't ask for this, but a good father daughter song would be
"i loved her first" by heartland
(it's a country song but it's incredibly sweet and it's perfect for that moment)
