How do you erase/delete a video camera dvd???

I have a "Sony DCR-DVD105 Mini-DVD Handycam Camcorder" and I recorded a bunch of stuff when I first got it playing around with it. How do I go back and erase or delete the stuff on the dvd so I can reuse it. Or Can you just record over it all?? If so how do you do it?? It doesn't have a memory card or a place for one.

Also is there a way to upload the dvd onto a computer??? If so how??

I'm usually pretty good with these kind of things but this one's over my head! :)

First, I believe if you finalized the DVD, you cannot erase it or "tape" over the old footage. Check your owner's manual about that.

Second, before you can playback the footage in a PC or a home theater, you have to finalize the DVD - in other words, you need to tell the camera that you're done recording on this disc.

Third, uploading the footage from the DVD to the PC is not possible, if you want to edit the footage, without some fancy hook-ups. The convenience factor of the DVD-camcorder is to allow users to remove the disc from the camera and simply pop it into a dvd player - you don't have to hook up the camera with wires to the TV anymore. However, for those that want to edit the footage - the DVD camcorder presents a problem.

If you camcorder has a Firewire jack and your PC has a Firewire card, then all you need is the actual Fire-Wire to make the connection. If you don't have this then you may want to check into a "break out" box that has a USB connection instead. This external box allows input from many kinds of A/V sources and converts it and transfers the footage into the PC via USB. This isn't as good as firewire, however.

DVD-RW only!

Do not use the computer to "erase" it. It will ruin the disk for the camcorder.

I talked to the manufacturer about this. They say that the only way to erase the disk is with the camcorder itself.

If you use the PC to do it, then try to do it on th camcorder, it is too late. The disk is already ruined.

Stupid if you ask me.

I'm 90% sure you CANNOT erase those dvds... in fact, if it says DVD-R, or DVD+R... you definitely cannot erase.
