I used to think that Dundee was a two club city, forgetting all about Dundee Violet. Do they still exist? Where do/did they play (the name of their football ground)?

Dundee FC are the number one club in the city even though they are languishing in the lower division one ;-)

Dundee Violet play at Glenesk Park beside Beechwood housing estate and at the other end of Beechwood Lochee Harp play. If memory serves me right the Dundee Violet were the prodestant team and the Lochee Harp were the Catholics..It matters diddly squat these days though.

Hope this helps ;-)

Dundee at Dens Park and Dundee Utd at Tannadice. The grounds are about 100 yards apart. Violet are still on the go but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of their Ground although I have played on it many times a lot of years ago. If I remember I will post it.
Perth Tink - You are correct about the names of the grounds and Harp were regarded as a catholic team. Not so sure about Violet being the Proddys though but I recall as a tiny little boy that Dundee played in the inaugaral match at Glenesk and there was a huge crowd. A long time ago I played for Lochee Utd and then Carnoustie.
