is it true that you can put your truck in second gear and brake torque it and you will get posi but if you put in first you wont get posi

no you can't have posi unless you have a posi rear end

No, the torque transfer would be the same no matter what gear you are in. You just would not be able to apply as much torque to the rear wheels.

If you have positraction, you have it in all gears; if you don't, you haven't.
Brake torquing it keeps the gears from turning, so posi (if you have it) won't 'switch on'.
