I have worked as a dental assistant for a little over a year. I have to tell you it is a wonderful job. Depending on how squeamish will effect how gross things are. You will get used to some of the more unpleasant things. If you assist for a general practice dentist you Will have to get used to blood, watching injections, puss from very infected sites (Sometimes the Doctor will drain them and you have to suction), foul... extremely foul breath, cleaning out suction hoses with blood in (so it doesn't coagulate), and probably a hundred other things I haven't mentioned. Overall though it is an excellent job and a very important one for any dental office to function well.
