Ok its kind of a 2 parter:
I just got off the phone with my sister who called to let me know she has decided to become an atheist. She is a grown woman and able to make her own choices in life so I dont judge her, but I asked her the reason an dshe says because her boyfriend told her too. Ok so atheists,is this a good reason?
Next, we were talking about the debate between evolution and creation, im christian so we know my veiw she says she dont believe in either evolution or creation. She won tsay what she feels on this because I will laugh. Is there another part of the life debate I havent heard?

That's not right to make someone follow your beliefs. Ever.

If she doesn't believe in either creation or evolution, that makes her a Nihilist.

No offense, but your sister sounds profoundly uninteresting.

To answer your first question, I don't think it's anyone's business what reason your sister has for believing or not believing in something. Nor should anyone care.

Second question: I suppose there are myriad theories out there, including those that posit humanity's descent from aliens. The scientific community pretty much unanimously backs evolution from primordial life.

The leading theory today is "intelligent design" This is sort of a combination of the two with God designing the system, including evolution, and then his creation taking billions of years to complete. You sister sounds like an idiot so she may believe that the earth is riding on a turtles back.

It sounds like you may not be giving your sister what she needs. If she gives her opinion to you about the existence of life, and you laugh at her, you are not being a good Christian.

I know this isn't the question you asked, but if she calls to tell you she is an atheist, you must allow the Holy Spirit to provide an answer for her through you. God cannot work through you if you are only interested in making fun of her or laughing at her thoughts. If you cannot think of anything to say, just tell her that you love so much that you are going to be praying for her to see God's wonderful truth.

You should pray for the Holy Spirit to soften her heart to God and pray for the Holy Spirit to provide you with the right words to say to her to help her find God.

"I'm Christian,, so we know my view" [on evolution]. Most Christians are fully aware that evolution is established scientifi fact--and that there is no "debate." Given that--and you're obviously jdgemental attitude toward your sister, (if you wern't being judgemental shey wouldn't be afraid you would mock her views--so yuour claims to the contrary ring hollow) I suspect its more a matter of her being sick of llistening to you than of really becoming an atheist--if that is what she reallly said and not how you chose to interpret her.

I really don't know, some people change with age as you have just discovered. I have a cousin, long retired, who has just decided to become a nun. NO reason, just want to be a nun. So go figure.

Did you ever think that maybe she is pulling your leg so hard, you fell for it??? 's been done before.

The religion for which one person will follow is a choice that they choose. I thank you for not judging them for their decision, as it shows you're far superior to the regular slime inherent in society. However, it's wrong for her boyfriend to tell her what religion to pursue. Nevertheless, her choice to conform to his wishes is hers, and although I wouldn't be against talking to her about it, and trying to talk some "sense" in to her, trying to force her to elect to follow your advice is wrong. Sure, talk to her about it, but do not force her to do anything. The choice is hers to make.

I, too, am Christian and also believe in creation. I am not currently aware of any other major theories. It may be possible that she has decided not to tell you because she, herself, is unsure about it.

No, that's not a very good reason. Unfortunately many people are told what to think theologically from a very young age, and they get quite used to it.
