The IRS has its on e-file and it is free. I used it the last 2 years without a problem. Just google for IRS Tax File.

If you are comfortable with using computer and internet, you can prepare and e-file your own taxes using one of the Free online tax software Taxact.

If your income is less that 39K or so you can contact a VITA site and they offer free tax preparation and e-filing. AARP also run free tax preparation for seniors.

Go through www.irs.gov, and on their front page, their is a section devoted to Free File, use their links, so you know you are using a legitimate site.

i use taxact.com......it's ok if your taxes are VERY simple.....otherwise pay for the 9.95 upgrade. have fun! ;)
