Where can we stay in New Orleans before we go on a cruise and leave our car,while on the cruise, for less than 12.00 a day ?

we have not gone yet but I am thinking we are going to go with one of the hotels that charge a little less for parking and leave our car at the hotel. It will still cost but not as much as the cruise ships parking.Thanks to all who answered sincerely.

see about Canal Place Mall .. I park there every time when i go to the Quarter .. so far its the cheapest I've found for $3 an hour .. but cant exceed $20... so i'm not sure if you can stay there for 5 days for $20.. . or its $20 for 24 hours.. call them and ask.

All of the hotels are safe. Check Yahoo Travel for hotels. Also check the website and hotels mentioned in the other answers and choose based on the price you want to pay. Verify the hotel has parking - not all do. If you have questions about a specific hotel you can post the question on New Orleans. There are no hotels really close to the cruise terminal and you will need to drive there and park or take a taxi. Contact the cruise line and ask about parking your vehicle for the duration of the cruise. Also ask them if any hotels offer discounts to their cruise passengers. Crime tends to become a topic in questions about New Orleans. Use the same common sense you need in every major city in the world and there is little chance you will be a victim of anything (except a need to visit the gym when you get home): Pay attention to your surroundings. Stay away from anywhere dark & deserted. Pay attention to your feelings - if anyone or anywhere gives you a bad feeling, leave the area. Don't leave something like a camera-bag or backpack unattended on a park bench while you wander off to take photos. Etc. Hope you have a good trip.

Parking at New Orleans hotels is fairly expensive. I doubt you will be able to find anything for much less. Some of the commercial lots may charge less but you may have to park outside and/or in a lot that isn't guarded 24/7. Plus, if you do not find something for much less than $12, it may not justify the cab ride you may need to get there and back.
If you have a friend in New Orleans (in a decent neighborhood) you may want to leave your car with them and either ask for a ride or cab it.

The cruise terminal provides a covered parking deck for about $10 a day.

Were you able to find parking? We are also going on a cruise from NO and would like to park cheaper since we have 2 cars carrying family members. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't stay in N.O. Its a dangerous town. 90% criminals.
