Did you know that Cleopatra vii changed her name temporarily when she married Augustus. She changed her name to "Mary" for "marriage". This was done frequently in ancient times to commemorate something that important happened. The Bible calls Jesus' mother 'Mary". She later changed it back and took Jesus to egypt for safety. Egypt is not a real safe place for Jews now. Jesus was not a Jew. He was Roman and Greek. The pope just lets you believe what you want too.
