Seeing their daughters getting married usually

I think some fathers have a very hard time grasping that they are no longer the central adult male in their little girls' lives, especially if their daughters were once "Daddy's girl".

My mother in law has yet to grasp the concept of her oldest son having a wife and child of his own......and we have been married almost 19 years. He was never a "momma's boy" and they really don't get along very well, but I am wallpaper where she is concerned.

Don't let it interfere with your marriage. Your Dad still is, and always will be, your Dad. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to allow your children to grow up and move on in their lives - which they should.

Well, did he have a Son-N-Law or does he have a Son-N-Law? IF he had one, what happened to him. Did he die? If the question is posed wrong and he has one that he is not accepting, then he may just not like the guy. What is it that your feel your dad is not doing to accept the guy. Is dad supposed to hug him and take him fishing? Im confused.
