Do Christians believe its figurative? Do they think it will literally take place? If people go over to another dimension doesnt that mean they die physically?

Yes... there are some pretty wacky people out there who believe that it's going to happen within the next 50 years.

A little over 30% of this nation, believe it or not.
That's scary.

The Rapture will literally take place. Millions of Christians will literally disappear from the face of the Earth, and enter God's presence. I'm not being sarcastic. Read the Bible. People who are Christian on Earth will be instantly taken to Heaven. Yes, technically, they will physically die to spiritually live for eternity with God.

God's Word teaches us that there is coming a day when the Lord Jesus Christ will appear in the sky and take all those that have believe that He died for their sins off the earth before the wrath of God is poured out. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4: 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thessalonians 4: 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thessalonians 4: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Because of the diverse opinions among godly Christians regarding the rapture, I consider pre-trib rapture, mid-trib rapture, and post-trib rapture to be within the scope of Christian orthodoxy

The event where, upon Jesus' return, those who have died in Christ and those Christians who are then alive will be physically caught up to the clouds and meet the Lord Jesus in the air. We will then forever be with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4:16-5:2)
