It is somewhat normal. Have you been taking care of the tattoo as you were instructed to do so? Neglect for your new ink could be a cause of it, even over cleaning and moisturizing can cause issues. Best thing to do if you are concerned is visit your tattoo artist and show him or her the tattoo. They'll be able to help you most since seeing the tattoo would help greatly in figuring out what the issue could be and whether or not its serious.

That's perfectly normal to be red & puffy for awhile.
Keep it clean, put ointment on it & don't pick the scabs.
It should heal just fine then. They take a couple months to fully heal anyhow, but if it's infected then you will Definately know.

Mine was red for a couple days...just make sure that you keep putting the cream on it so it doesn't get infected. Also, try to avoid the urge to scratch it!

Burts (as In Burts Bees) sells an ointment called Burts Res Q. Its awsume, fights infection and reduces pain. I use it on all my new tattoos and the ones I get re-dyed.
You can get it any drug store

u still have about 3 days to use the cream that they should of given u at the parlor. the best thing to do is not touch it and for sure dont scratch it. dont water directly on it and jsut let it heal naturally.

a new tattoo is a wound. my tattoos are always sore for about five days. have you been caring for it properly? washing it with antibacterial soap? if you are worried about it you can always see a doctor.
