It isn't that uncommon for cats to "fetch." Often male cats (though females will play this game as well) fetch and return toys so they can be thrown again. Males are incline to do this because they are more social and open to regular interaction than their female counterparts.
Several sites have information up about how to teach your cat to fetch -- including Whiskas: http://new.whiskas.com/article.aspx?aid=62&flash=false&vip=m
I had a cat that would fetch crumpled up post-it notes for hours.
The arm bitting is most likely the result of your cat being over stimulated. This is something you need to break him of doing. I'd suggest a little squirt from a water bottle or a slight tap to his nose with two fingers when he does this. At the same time use a firm voice to scold him -- repeating "no" while doing this.
Sounds like you have a real character living with you! --Andy

i would have to say that your cat is ether younge or very old which i assume your cat is younge and well it just depends how the cat was raised. if the cat was around dogs then well the cats going to act like a dog. but most cats like to play fetch in a way if they know that you will throw it again they will bring it back to you

My cat likes to play fetch also, and he likes to have his belly rubbed and lay on his back with his feet in the air when he sleeps. Sometimes I think he should've been a dog, but I think its perfectly normal. Just like humans cats have their own personalities.

My old cat used to mimic my dog. She used to be mean before the dog and I think was jealous since the puppy got all the attention. She would fetch, and even try to bark!

unquestionably commonly used. that could be a breed element, or it ought to be which you in basic terms have a tremendously intelligent and playful kitten. I actually have a nil.5 Siamese cat who's some 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous and that i gave him a toy undergo to play with. the element is approximately 0.5 his length yet he carts it around in his mouth like a dogs and now and returned sleeps with it. My mom's Bengal kitten who's approximately 10 weeks previous includes it around too and the toy is particularly two times his length. at the instant i've got seen the two considered one of them fidgeting with it jointly. My cat additionally performs in water like a dogs, he paws at it and splashes it around. in case you be attentive to the breed of cat you have try doing a sprint analyze on character characteristics and breed characteristics... it factors you some perception.

Gretchen's answer was a hoot. I think he is just showing his personality. Some cats are more interactive with their people than others, but the biting is something you should nip in the bud.

this is indeed rare but not uncommon. what has happened is that the cat has observed the natural superior intelligence of the dog and has deciced to mimic the behavior.
this is not as good as it first seems, the cat will eventually realize that it is only a cat and go into a deep depression with eventual suicidal tendencies.
you should immediately remove all mirrors from the vicinity of your cat and restrict its access to video cameras.
a shock therapy may be in order. try shaving the cat and observing its reaction.
hope this helps!!
