Maybe you need to talk to your doctor regarding the side effects to the medication you are taking in regards to you weight. Second, maybe you can get into some kind of physical training to help combat the side effects as well. The benefits of working out will not only help with your weight, they will also release endorphins which can help fight depression. Don't worry about what other people think. Most are shallow, callous individuals whose opinion shouldn't matter to you. Killing yourself accomplishes nothing.

Good for you, first of all, for asking people for advice. This shows that you really do want to get better.
Have you talked to your doctor about it? If it is the pills causing the weight gain, there may be other pills to try. Now, it is also possible that you have a medical problem that is assisting in the weight gain. Maybe your doctor could test you for things like a thyroid problem. Sometimes there is an underlying reason for not being able to lose weight.
I can't say that I know how you feel, but I can say that I understand. I told the doctor that I refused to take a certain medication because of the weight gain issue and he found another medication for me to take. It was also for mental health problems. I told him that the depression that the weight gain would cause wasn't worth it.
Also, maybe seeing a psychiatrist might help. I know it doesn't sound very appealing, but the advice might be helpful.
Well, I hope that this helps a little. Hang in there. You and your doctor will get things worked out. You are not alone.

Gah, it sounds like you're going through a LOT of pain right now, but I didn't need to tell you that.
I probably should have been on meds at puberty, too...but I've been trying (unsuccessfully I might add) to get along without them. You didn't specify what you're taking them for, though...for me it'd mostly be depression and anxiety.
Okay first: Are the meds you're on now the only ones that can work for you? Have you tried different ones, because there are even a few that are known to cause weight-loss...just a thought. Forgive my ignorance if that's what I indeed am displaying here.
I know how body-image can wreak havoc with your mind; I've been struggling with the way I feel about my body recently, and I know it's very difficult sometimes to accept yourself no matter what you look like.
Damn, I really do wish I had a solution for you. But, I've never been in a situation involving medication like that; I don't know what I'd do, certainly can't tell you what you should do.
But please have faith that there is bound to be a solution, one that involves you staying alive.

You need to speak to the doctor who prescribed the meds for your mental condition about what your options are. If you're eating right and exercising (which also help your mental outlook) and you're still gaining weight, it could possibly be a side effect of your meds. Call him or her right away and make an appointment to sit down and discuss these feelings with them, as well as the option for finding alternative prescriptions or setting up a different diet / exercise regimen for yourself. Do not blow this off - hearing "buck up" is frustrating I know. You know how important this is so take care of it - today. good luck.

Have you talked to your doctor? He may be able to prescribe another prescription for the depression, one that will not have the side effect of your gaining weight. To be happy and healthy you need to have a healthy weight too. If he will not help you achieve this, he is the wrong doctor. About the hospital, treatment for mental illness has changed, sounds like the hospital you went to was in the dark ages. Look into other places with updated treatment, before you may need it, just in case. I wish you all the best. Please find someone you can talk to about this. Life is indeed precious. Good Luck and I am thinking about you and praying for you.

Ok. First, you need to get in touch with a psych. I know that's one of the last things you want to do, but reach out to someone. This was a good first step. You can also visit www.hopeline.com or call
1(800)SUICIDE [1-800-784-2433] for help, day or night. The next thing you have to do is ask yourself if you've done everything in your power to loose weight. Have you been exercising? Exercise will help you not only loose weight, but also it'll pump up your endorphine level, making you happy. When you exercise focus on cardio vascular. Running, swimming, dancing, tennis! Anything that'll get your heart rate up. Have you been dieting? Eating right? Cutting out excess sugars and fats? Eating all your veggies? If you have been, then it's time to go to a doctor. Either liposuction, or a gastric bypass, or a lap band surgery will help. Please sweetie, I understand how hard it is. I went through the exact same battle a few years ago, and I know it seems darn near impossible, but please, please, seek help! take care of yourself!

You need to see your doctor asap as in today or go to the ER. Sucide is a very serious thing and you should seek medical help immedietly. You could have a thyroid disorder, I gained weight and couldn't loose it and they found out it was my thyroid and as soon as they put me on meds the weight came right off. See your doctor today though, nothing is worth taking your life over.

I don't know what to tell you exactly. It's hard to accept who you are especially if you're not happy with yourself. Are you under a high amount of stress? Stress increases a hormone which makes people gain weight. I know it may be hard, but try to decrease your stress as much as possible. And try to look on the bright side of things, even though this may be hard as well.

if the weight youve gained is solely a function of med effect, you need to tell your provider that that effect isnt acceptable to you, and give him/her to opportunity to work with you on the issue.
