This is a really intresting article about radib Anti-Choicers who end up having abortions anyway, but still think it is something that should be denyed to other women. They think that their abortion is ok, but others are not.

What do you think? I'll post a couple of the stories in the details, but you can check out the whole article here: http://mypage.direct.ca/w/writer/anti-tales.html

"We too have seen our share of anti-choice women, ones the counselors usually grit their teeth over. Just last week a woman announced loudly enough for all to hear in the recovery room, that she thought abortion should be illegal. Amazingly, this was her second abortion within the last few months, having gotten pregnant again within a month of the first abortion. The nurse handled it by talking about all the carnage that went on before abortion was legalized and how fortunate she was to be receiving safe, professional care. However, this young woman continued to insist it was wrong and should be made illegal. Finally the nurse said, 'Well, I guess we won't be seeing you here again, not that you're not welcome.' Later on, another patient who had overheard this exchange thanked the nurse for her remarks."

"The sister of a Dutch bishop in Limburg once visited the abortion clinic in Beek where I used to work in the seventies. After entering the full waiting room she said to me, 'My dear Lord, what are all those young girls doing here?' 'Same as you', I replied. 'Dirty little dames,' she said."

"I once had a German client who greatly thanked me at the door, leaving after a difficult 22-week abortion. With a gleaming smile, she added: 'Und doch sind Sie ein Mörderer.' ('And you're still a murderer.')"

"My first encounter with this phenomenon came when I was doing a 2-week follow-up at a family planning clinic. The woman's anti-choice values spoke indirectly through her expression and body language. She told me that she had been offended by the other women in the abortion clinic waiting room because they were using abortion as a form of birth control, but her condom had broken so she had no choice! I had real difficulty not pointing out that she did have a choice, and she had made it! Just like the other women in the waiting room."

"In 1990, in the Boston area, Operation Rescue and other groups were regularly blockading the clinics, and many of us went every Saturday morning for months to help women and staff get in. As a result, we knew many of the 'antis' by face. One morning, a woman who had been a regular 'sidewalk counselor' went into the clinic with a young woman who looked like she was 16-17, and obviously her daughter. When the mother came out about an hour later, I had to go up and ask her if her daughter's situation had caused her to change her mind. 'I don't expect you to understand my daughter's situation!' she angrily replied. The following Saturday, she was back, pleading with women entering the clinic not to 'murder their babies.'"

"We have anti-choice women in for abortions all the time. Many of them are just naive and ignorant until they find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy. Many of them are not malicious. They just haven't given it the proper amount of thought until it completely affects them. They can be judgmental about their friends, family, and other women. Then suddenly they become pregnant. Suddenly they see the truth. That it should only be their own choice. Unfortunately, many also think that somehow they are different than everyone else and they deserve to have an abortion, while no one else does."

Christians will dismiss this by saying these people were not truly Christian. The reality is this, however. Make abortion illegal and what you're really doing is making safe abortion unavailable for poor people. The wealthy will have Canada and Europe as options.

I am a counselor in a pregnancy help clinic, and I have seen this very thing- "the girl or woman does not like abortion, thinks it is wrong, but then down the road we find out she went to an abortion clinic and had one anyway. That does not make it right of course. Sometimes though, including me, will sin no matter how much we try to say we would never do something wrong. It unfortunately happens, and I pray that these women who have had abortions will down the road chose to be healed from their choice- Jesus can heal them. One question- have you ever said, "I will never do that?" Meaning anything not just abortion and then wind up doing it anyway, and making excuses for it? I can venture to guess you have.

It all depends why they are against abortions - because that's the trend, because they have to be against something or somebody in order to feel important, because they have some ethical principles which are based on nothing but what they were taught when they were children and as such they can easily chage or because they really believe it is wrong to deprive of life a human being that has already come into existence. I guess it's more the first three reasons than the last one, but I'm sure you can come up with more ideas.

Yes, they are hypocrites, but, honestly, what's your point? There are hypocrites in any movement. Imagine that a vocal abolitionist was found to own a slave. Would we say, "Well, he wants to deny other people the right to own slaves, but owns one himself, therefore the entire abolitionist position is wrong?" Of course not! Slavery is wrong because it oppresses and kills innocent human beings without their consent--just like abortion. EDIT: Think there's no comparison between abortion and slavery? Think again:

http://www.blackgenocide.org/abortion.html

Anyone who commits abortion kills an innocent human being. That is not debatable, but is simply a biological fact:

Consider, too, this comment from http://www.deathroe.com/Pro-life_Answers :

"To imply that it is common for pro-lifers to get abortions is an outright lie, but when it does happen it simply reinforces the pro-life position. If even people who know abortion is murder will, if given the right pressure, submit to it, then it becomes even more obvious that unborn children must have their lives protected by law. Further, to suggest that the pro-choice position is justified because a few pro-lifers have taken their daughters for abortions, is as illogical as saying rape is justified because some police officers have committed rape."

Though I am very "anti choice" myself, I think this falls in the same line as any sin we (Christians) commit. Not all Christians, but many, will point out the sins of other people easier than they will ever admitt to their own. I can't say this hasnt happened to me either, there was a specific sin that I would speak out against (though not as public as a picket line) and then, lo- and behold, I found myself in the SAME sin!! However, I dont condone my behavior or say for me it's right and for you it's wrong. I admit that yes.... this is a sin. It seems funny to me that very often, the things we might be the loudest in condemning, God seems to allow us to get caught up in that very thing... not so we can think it is right, but maybe so we can see how the other side felt? I think God uses this, in me, to be less critical of others. To understand that yes, this is something that's very hard to deal with and not a matter of "Just praise God and let it go"

People do themselves, God and all of humanity a HUGE diservice when they rationalize away their OWN sin as "well for me it's ok"

These are examples of double minded people---"It's OK for me, but not anybody else." A common attitude among white people is that abortion is OK so long as it doesn't occur in my family and so long as no white people are involved. In other words, abortion is for minorities only to control their breeding. This is hypocrisy, which makes it the perfect political issue, since all politics is founded in hypocrisy. This is also in the vein of situational ethics, ethics that are adjusted according to the situation. Such people are confused and unable to exercise any real stance on any issue. Simply put, every time that they open their mouths they speak as fools. Thank you for presenting this information to the forum for comment.

Somehow this doesn't surprise me. Most people seem to think they have a special situation which separates them from everyone else. They are hypocrites of course.

Those who answered before me do have a good point. The rich do feel as though they deserve the choice while the poor do not.

It's unbelievable isn't it? It just goes to show that the majority of the anti-choice fanatics are truly insane. God Bless all of the staff at clinics that perform abortions, for their compassion and undying support of women and their choices.

wow thats crazy, and if these women are choosing they are just like the rest, who is to say that they are the only moral ones in the clinic, had they asked the other women they might think the same....bottom line they are just trying to make themselves feel better in some weird way about their choice.

Basically they oppose abortion for poor people, but not for rich people. Rich people are morally superior. It's the same old story with the morality police -- rules A apply to the general public, rules B apply to everyone else.
