We're having a Super Bowl party on Sunday with some of my fiance's friends. We're doing the party at out house (we live together). All of his friends drink, so there will be beer at the party. My grandmother is visiting from out of town, and wants to come to our party. We're both absolutely okay with this, but my concern is the fact that she doesn't drink. What can I do to make her more comfortable in this situation? I don't drink either, but my fiance and all his friends know it, and they're fine with it. But I don't want my grandmother to be uncomfortable. Any suggestions?

I'd say explain to grandma that their will be alcohol at the party because some of the guys drink. Then I would talk to the fiance. Ask the fiance to explain to his friends that grandma will be their and ask them to respect the fact that she is their and try to keep it down for her sake.

Good luck and I hope that you and grandma enjoy the game.

Why is everyone acting like Grandma is some feeble old fool?
She wants to come to the party, there will be alcohol - she doesn't drink therefore.....she doesn't drink. What is the issue? Grams has been on this earth a long, long time and unless the people at the party plan to harass her into doing body shots other people drinking should be nothing more than other people having a beverage. Just be sure to be a polite host and provide non-alcoholic beverages that your Grandmother can enjoy.

make some non-alcoholic smoothies...then you and your grandma can share. put umbrellas on them or pineapples..you know the stuff that makes them all decorative. this will help you and your grandma feel part of the party, but not actually drinking like the rest of the guys. have fun and hope this helps....Go Colts!!
