sometime soon. But my cat is becoming increasingly agitated as she sees everything she knows disappearing, or being ripped apart and new stuff being brought in.

What can I do to reassure her. I cannot miaow to her that she is coming with me ;-) But she is biting and scratching me which is unusual for her. Thanks.

Cats are more terretorial, while dogs are family oriented. That is her territory, you'll have to watch her when you move because she may try to run back to her' territory'. Are you positive she isn't expecting a litter? This may be adding to her unusual behaviour. Keep giving her smiles as in the cat way - you look at her, keep your mouth straight, then close your eyes tight and look away. This shows that u are connecting with her, and will reassure her that u are there for her- cats don't like the way we humans smile at eachother as baring teeth etc is a sign of agression to them. Best of luck and good luck in your new home.

Make sure that you are giving her plenty of attention and playtime, so that she doesn't feel she is being abandoned. Try to set up a corner of your current place for her that remains the same even while everything else is changing. Even if it's just her food/water, litter, scratching post, etc. That way she has an area that is "hers" and is the same, and she can retreat there if she needs a safe space.

Your vet can prescribe feline valuum. I highly recommend it to help your cat feel calmer during the move. When it's over, she'll barely remember a thing.
