Nature perfectly follows the science and technology including mathematics.In order to to maintain the symmetry on both sides of the upper and lower jaws ,the total number of teeth always remain an even number.

For function. If we had an odd number of teeth, there would be one tooth that would not have an occluding partner, making that tooth completely useless for chewing.
