I think that painting all the walls that color would be waaaaaay too much. And unless you managed to get just the right shade and pattern of oriental rug, it would probably overwhelm the rest of the room.
I would choose a rug that picks up the maroon and gold of the pillows and stick to a very simple pattern. And I'd use that one salmon colored wall to show off a prized object -- an old clock, a lovely landscape, or something else that you really enjoy looking at.
The wall already calls attention to itself, so why not use it as your focal point?

I did a living room in a color called terra cotta rose. This was put on one large wall and another wall that was primarily a window. The remaining wall was a creamy white. I think your fawn colored furniture would look great the maroon pillows also. I think I would do away with the gold if they have much of a yellow tone. A pale gold may work. I think a oriental rug would be great. I would look for something that would tie the colors together. Use your salmon colored wall as your focal point. I used mine to hold my favorite sofa size painting ,which was spotlighted. This also gave interesting shadow play on the wall. I really think that if you were to paint the whole room the salmon color your fireplace would look to stark white.

If your furniture, fireplace, home style is traditional, then Oriental rugs typically come in shades of tan, off white, beige with maroon and gold designs are easy to coordinate. Oriental rugs typically have different patterns and many shades so that might be a good starting point - select the rug, then compare paint samples to see what ties the furniture, decor, rug and walls together. There are other rugs besides the traditional Oriental motifs (modern, southernwester, abstract) if your look is a little more relaxed or contemporary. If a small room, lighter paint color will make it look larger and also a good idea if busy rug.

Whoa! Ok first of all you need to decide what colors you are willing to use and what you are trying to acomplish. If it were me, I would try an oriental look I would use maroon and gold accent with a splash of orange. Loose the white except in small doses! You can pain the room in the same color it would be beautiful. But remember if you chose to paint a dark color it will bring the room in closer, but since you have a large room you could get by with it. Maroon walls bring a warmth and its sexy too. you could accent the door frames and wall jams with white or beige to contrast your dark and break it up.
Good luck

I think a salmon color would be lovely. An oriental or wool rug with the salmon and maroon color in it would be pretty. White is a good accent.
