Interesting match-up. McGirt was a real good boxer and is underrated. Palomino was also very good and underrated as well. I would have to give the edge to Palomino. Palomin was a relentless fighter with great body work. He lost to the best in Duran and Benitez but he lost competitively. Against Benitez he alsmot won the fight. Benitez was a better all around fighter than McGirt. If Palomino fought so well against Benitez I believe he could beat Mcgirt. Mcgirt wasn't quite slick enough or fast enough to shutdown Palomino. Carlos by decison.

Good question sir! I think this would be a close and competitive fight between two outstanding boxers. Palomino lost a close fight to Wilfred Benitez, beat John H. Stracey for the welter title and had a war with Armando Muniz. Buddy McGirt also beat some outstanding fighters during his career like Simon Brown. I believe in a close contest that Palomino ekes out a close decision victory over McGirt.

MCGIRT - W 73 (KO's 48) TF 80 - W pct 91% - KO pct 60% - wins over Mamby, F. Warren, H. Davis and Bramble - KO'ed by Taylor and A. Council
He has become a highly regarded trainer
Titles at 140 and 147

PALOMINO - W 31 (KO's 19) TF 38 - W pct 82% - KO pct 50% - wins over Muniz[2], Stracey and H. Lewis - KO'ed by none

Both men were good all-around fighters. McGirt has a better record and more experience. I pick "Buddy" in a close -great bout- split decision.
