it definetly matters. if you run before you lift you won't have any energy to train properly. that is a recipe for injury and for minimal progress. your body only has so much glycogen available for use.

AS was mentioned earlier, what your end goal is, will determine what your workout regiment should be.

If your main goal is to build muscle mass or strength (the two are different), then you should work out, then do cardio. This way the muscles have the required energy to lift the weights required, and when you're doing cardio, the muscles are already exausted forcing your body to pull from fat cells.

If your main goal is weight loss and not strength/mass buildup, then doing your cardio first would be recommended, as then your be making your body work harder during that aspect of your training, and you'll have less energy for lifting.

Typically I prefer working out (lifting) first, as I do lift somewhat heavy, but it also insures that I have energy available to lift correctly and maintain form, and reduces the chances of my getting hurt from bad form.

I have heard the arguement both ways. However I trained I worked with said the bestthing to do is lift then run. He that when you do that your body will continue to burn calories for a longer period of time and helps build lean muscle.

It matters, if you run before you work out then you will burn up some of your energy running and will not be as strong when it comes to the weights.

I would run before you lift....that way your muscles will loosen up a bit. Lifting first could cause your muscles to tense up. You should rest when that happens, not work them out more.
