As someone who used to work in the Micro/Viro department at the largest lab in my state, I can answer definetely yes.
Viruses "evolve" everytime they move to a new host. So when I sneeze on you and you get sick, the virus has already "evolved" to make you sick and keep itself alive.
The reason anti-biotics are losing their effectiveness is a twofold issue.
One is the overuse in the 70's, 80's & 90's of pediatricians and moms of antibiotics indiscriminatley and without "sensitivity testing". These tests determine which antibiotic would be best to kill any given organism.
The second reason that antibiotics are no longer as effective is evolution. Viruses are especially good at mutating quickly to keep itself alive in a host. Notice that HIV/AIDS patients are not dying as quickly as they did in the 80's. Its not just the drug cocktails the patients get. The HIV virus figured out it was killing its host too quickly and mutated to keep itself alive longer.
So, the result is that the bacterium and viruses that we've been vaccinated against and the flu bugs that go around are no longer susceptable to the drugs we have now on the market.
Mama earth is an intelligent and living organism. She knows there are too damn many of us here and we're ruining her. She comes up with fun things like Ebola And Marburg and AIDS to clean the nasty little parasites called humans off her back.
There's a long answer to a short question!

You may consider it part of evolution but the thing is there is probably a connection between evolution and biological adaptation. Developing resistance or immunization to drugs is probably caused by a bacteria adjusting its strength or ability to counter an attack in order to survive. Evolution may involve partial or total changes in its appearances according to the changing forces of nature or landscape of the earth. Survival can also be considered along that line. Fish of the waters may come from the same specie but some are found to have developed a certain kind of camouflage or defense systems according most likely to the dangers and necessities they are facing either from their predators or their prey.
Man have evolved from apelike figure when they were still getting their nourishments from the fruit of the trees ang getting those the same way as the other tree climbing animals. They started to adapt a straight spine figure when they started living on a flat terrain and looking far for their protection and search for foods that move on the ground and behind bushes. All our developments you call evolution will always be related to our needs to survive the changes that may be brought by manmade progress which causes the elements of nature to behave to such uncertain phenomena.

Yes, they are! A few bacteria out of a few thousand will be naturally resistant to a drug due to a mutation somewhere along the line. These will be the only ones that survive, and will produce a new crop of resistant bacteria, passing along the now useful mutation. That's evolution, baby!

I don't think so. Evolving actually means developing into a more compex being with a different genetic structure. Imagine a batch of rats that somehow get trapped into a space where there is not light. They somehow find what to eat and adjust to the surroundings but they gradually lose their sight and develop their other senses. Is that a different species? Did they develop into something more complex, let's say into monkeys? No, they still remain rats with the same number of chromosemes, only with some different specifications. That's not evolution. When bacterias evolve into frogs, then we'll talk again.

If you define adaptation as evolution, otherwise, no. The genes that make an organism resistant are already present in a percentage of the the total population. By bombarding the entire population with a drug, you eliminate those that do not have the resistance, and hence "a resistant strain" develops.
No new information is developed, hence, no evolution is demonstrated.

It's not proof that any other species does evolve, but it is proof that bacteria can change to become more resistant to the antibiotics. It is likely an example of the principles of evolution, namely that things mutate, and those that mutate into more hardy forms survive more, and have more generations like them, while those who are less hardy tend to die out.

Bacteria and viruses shift to remain alive by not killing off the host and drug resistance, so yes, it's proof of evolution. It's also proof that people misuse prescription antibiotics and fail to take appropriate precautions in the world and workforce, like proper handwashing technique.

Yes. Of course. Evolution is a change in allele frequency in a population. Clearly the alleles for resistance are increasing in density within these populations due to the die off of those individuals who do not possess it.
