Would you join the British army over the US army if you could? Take into account that the British army is better trained and the American army has better equipment.
Also which special forces would you rather be in SAS or Seals
thanks

I say we are better trained because we have smaller numbers of men to train and also you have to push yourselfs to the limit or you will not make the grade so to speak

4 British Royal Marines held off 200 taliban not long ago without much equiptment. Now I think their training had something to do with that. Also Ive seen a documantary on US troops being trained and it did look light weight compared to British training.
It makes sense that we are better trained because we have smaller numbers which means more individual attention and learning.

Americans do have better equipment and technology because our government wont spend the money. Our boys are seriously lacking in equiptment but are still getting the job done.

I would do exactly what I have already done and thats train and fight jointly with the Brits. I am an American citizen. Therefore, I would serve my country above any other. However, for Special operations training and service - sorry Army Special Forces - but I would definitley go with the SAS. I have my reasons. Heck yeah!

Considering that our two countries collaborate with most of the technology and likely our militaries probably compare training techniques and have probably worked out the best possible programs for both, I can't imagine they are that much different.
I am guessing that you are not in the miliatary yourself.
I also saw something someone had posted earlier about how americans have washed out of the British army. How is this possible? I don't think you can join a foreign military. Don't you need to be a citizen? Just a thought.

I would never join any military over my own country. But if I were, the UK would be my first choice. I would rather be a SEAL.
You can't get the job done if you don't have the right equipment. That is the number 1 problem I hear from Americans who work with the UK, they are poorly equipped.
The UK Army may be better trained, but there are still things you can do in the US military that are just as good as anyone in the world.

I cannot take your assertion that the British army is better trained than the American army at face value, though it may be true. Do you have any cites to information I could look at to research this further?
In any event, as an American, my allegiance is to the US, so I would join the US army. If you are British, I assume that you would feel that way about the British army.
I hope that Britain and the US continue to find themselves on the same side.

Hrm...Well if the British Army is so much better then why did they just get rid of several Highland Regiments? As for the firepower...They fire the same rounds 5.56 and 7.72mm ammunition. So that is the same. I also believe that the training for the units is about the same since I did some time with the Royal Marines in Norway. As to the Special Forces...I would pick neither...I would go with Delta.

no.
but to be honest, i am positive the american army is better trained and equipped.
your argument that since the british army is smaller each soldier gets better attention is based on false assumptions.
consider this, the community college in my state is small, very small. but i'd bet that even though cambridge and oxford are much bigger they also are much better schools. why, because they can spend a lot more money on their professors and administration and the instructors at this community college are only part timers.
so really, most of it comes down to money.
and the us spends A LOT of money on its military. more than the rest of the world combined.
you also give an example where a few british soldiers took on 200 taliban soldiers and won. well how about this story. a few us tanks took on an entire iraqi armored division (tanks, artillery, etc.) and won...without a single casualty.

The American Army defeated the British Army twice and saved it's skin twice.
To think that we'd preferr their army over our's is totally goofy.
But I understand your reasons for bringing it up. I spent 3 years in the army and it totally sucked. I'm sure that the English army totally sucks too.
But if I were trapped in a foxhole with Bill Clinton or George Bush, I would be just as trilled to see either army coming over the hill.

Well, the not stirring people up didn't work out too well.
I'm very proud of the United States Armed Forces. I don't know where you get the statistic that the British Army has superior training. I know ours is very intense. Our special forces are awesome.
Don't worry Brits, we have your back.

Well, I'm ex-Navy and I wouldn't join either ARMY... I was smart enough to join the Navy so that I would sleep on a mattress rather than the ground & eat hot food off a tray each day...
I flew and did my shooting with torpedos (practice), missiles (practice), and my door-gun (Desert Storm).
That being said... I'd like the Royal Navy. They have access to beer after a long day.

i would be very interested in knowing where you found the info to base the statement that "brits r better trained & usa has better equip".....since brit & usa are allies i think it's important that we stand together against a common enemy, that desires the utter destruction of both of our countries & our cultures. I am proud of any British Citizen that wears the uniform, they deserve respect. Just as the US soldiers in every segment of the military. Each is held up as the best by their countrymen/women as it should be - "pride in your country"......
