What is it, well it is when ones mind is running a hundred miles an hour, your body does what it can to keep up. It is said that those with ADHD have problems with there mind shutting down.
They also say that those who have been through a scary experience or war have the same symptoms as ADHD.
One with ADHD need a lot of stimulation at home, school, work. Usually doing a few things at one time. These people are supposed to be very smart people. Forgetfulness, messy homes, driving fast or doing risky activities with no thought of the future.
Doctors are pill happy and think a pill will cure all. This is manageable without popping pills. This condition is not live threatening unless of course the risky activities kill the person.
Those who are undiagnosed sometimes self medicate with drugs or alcohol. Also I feel children are misdiagnosed with this on a daily bases, it is the "in" thing right now to be on medication for.
I am diagnosed with this. The pills they had me on gave me horrible migrain headaches on top of migraines I already get.
There are three of us here who are diagnosed, it does run in family's. If a child in the family has this, more then likely someone else in the family has it too. Either the parents or grandparents or cousins etc.
Anyhoo not a fun thing to have, but as I said not life threatening, just need to understand it. In some doctors theories we are supposed to be like the hunters of a clan of long ago. We are quick to react, can run on very little sleep and can not handle boring situations. Stimulation hounds. Get board very quickly....

ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. My 5 years old son is being assesed in school as I was worried because he is more hyperactive than usual. He does not bother in sitting down to eat, he is always jumping around. Not even the Television amuses him. At school he has to sit beside the teacher so that he does his work because if not he will even wonder out of the class. A doctor should be the one to diagnose this disorder. At the moment a school psycologist is assesing him and after this he will be sent to a peadatrician.

attention defecit hyperactivity disorder- i have ADD and my problem arose late in my high school years. i couldnt focus for more than about 15 mintues on ANYthing, regardless if i enjoyed it or not. and so the next time i was at the doctor, i asked him about it because my grades went to crap and stayed there. he started me on a low dose of ritalin and it gave me the ability to stay focused for about 3-4 hours which was an amazing improvement. again i have ADD but ADHD is no different it just has another aspect to it that you have a lot of energy. this has to do with the brain's impulse control center. once you are up you are UP and you are literally bouncing off the walls. talk to a doctor, ask him if you show enough symptoms to do something about it and dont be embarrassed to be honest. this isnt a problem that can't be solved, in fact its very common so be brave and go ask Dr. Knowsitall

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral condition in which children have difficulties paying attention and focusing on tasks. This common disorder begins in early childhood and can continue into adulthood. If not recognized and treated, it can cause problems at home, school, and work and with relationships.
Many children with ADHD have signs of both hyperactivity and attention problems. This is called combined type ADHD. When children have significant problems with hyperactivity and impulsivity and fewer problems with attention, it is called predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type ADHD. Some children mainly have problems with inattention and fewer problems with hyperactivity and impulsivity. This is called predominantly inattentive type ADHD.
