Gray is a neutral almost anything goes with the exception of brown tones. Blues are nice as well as anything in the purple family. Light yellows work nicely with gray. Pinks and reds work as well. Personally I would stay away from greens but greens with blue undertones would be ok. If you want to stay with white tones look again for a slight blue/gray undertone. Gray is great to work with as there are so many possibilities. Have fun with it.

You could use almost any color except yellows and darker beiges. I would use a very light green to keep it in the lighter neutrals, or mabe just an eggshell color. But you need to think about your curtains and furniture first. Pick a color that would be a nice backdrop to your style of furniture, and flow with the other colors that will be incorporated into the home.

look at Benjamin Moore's diffused, Willow Creek, Raindance and Gossamer Blue. All might look super with the carpet and white trim. save the partitions gentle, impartial and unassuming. that's going to look super!
