I heard that a school in New Jersey was showing 3rd graders a video about families. In this video it showed households with a Mommy and a Daddy, it showed divorced parents, but it also showed homes with gay couples where they children either had 2 Moms or 2 Dads. What do you think about this? Would you let your children watch this?

No I wouldn't let my child watch that. That is something that the school should get permission from the parents before they let them watch it.

Honey, this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you think this is just some 'school in New Jersey' that is doing this, then you seriously need to explore this further. When I lived in AZ about 5 or 6 years ago - and that is an EXTREMELY conservative state - there was a law passed that required gayness to be taught in EVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL in AZ as an acceptable alternate lifestyle. This teaching is rampant. There is a widely used first grade reader called "I Have Two Mommies." If you are truly interested in finding out more, about ten years ago I read a compelling book called "None Dare Call it Education." It will really open your eyes in being able to interpret the things you read about trends in education as featured in newspapers or on the news.

This could be a very controversial question...lol How do I feel about it? It would be very educational and may help some children understand. This is real life and families as we know it today. Times have changed and knowledge and acceptance is a good thing.

I would be concerned about the age of the children. But it's at that age these confusing questions surface. So kudos to the school for taking such a giant leap and helping our children understand.

I sure would. I think that we need to teach our children about all people, and teach them tolerance and love.

I have gay friends, and my children understand that they are a family just like ours. I would much rather have my children see a loving gay family than an abusive hetero family!

I think they need to have parents permission and a viewing in order to show things like that first. Just like sex ed, the parents should able to view it first then approve it for their kids.
