For me what works is I take Airborne at the VERY FIRST sign of a cold. I take it every 4 hours the first day and then every 8. I am a FIRM believer in zinc too. At the first tickle of a sore throat I take Cold Eze which is a zinc lozenge. If sinuses are affected I go the Zicam (again, zinc) nasal swabs or nasal spray. I also have tried Esberitox (health food store item) and it has been quite effective for me too. These are chewable pills. Vitamin C is always good, and eat healthfully and drink lots of fluids to flush your infection out. Get LOTS of sleep. If you still have the cold 5 - 7 days later, you should see your physician because the cold virus may have "turned into" a bacterial infection which should be treated w/ an antibiotic.

There is no cure for cold...
but medications are available that can help dry up your system for a period of time. Colds typically last three to five days, with residual coughing and/or catarrh lasting up to three weeks. It is the most common of all human diseases
The common cold is caused by numerous viruses (mainly rhinoviruses, coronaviruses, and also certain echoviruses, paramyxoviruses, and coxsackieviruses) infecting the upper inspiratory system.

It can be prevented...The best way to avoid a cold is to avoid close contact with existing sufferers, to wash hands thoroughly and regularly, to avoid touching the face. Anti-bacterial soaps have no effect on the cold virus—it is the mechanical action of hand washing that removes the virus particles.

Unfortunately there is no cure, but there's treatment. Just drink plenty of fluids and take some Vitamin C. If it gets really bad, go to the doctor and get a prescription for some antibiotics. If you're congested, I suggest Sudafed Decongestant.

The best cure for a cold is love. That is so true. I got
rid of mine in one day, just because my emotions were
so euphoric toward this special lady. Along with a teaspoon
of cough syrup of course.... It is all in your mind.

My family has survived many colds, and we do it the Old Fashion Way. Put a tablespoon of Mustard Powder, (Sorry It has to be the tin type) into a hot bath of water, and when body temperature. soak in the bath for at least 20 -30 minutes. (Don't worry no smell), but will sweat the cold out of your body., and wrap up warm, and go to bed.

Lemon juice with honey and hot water is very soothing when you have a cold. I've recently tried 'First Defence' (you can buy it at the chemist or supermarket) which you use at the first sign of a cold, and that seemed to help. It's supposed to stop the nasty germs taking hold. Good luck!

drink hot water and lemon juice, take a vitamin c supplement and full dose of echinacea (builds up the immune system, buy from a health food shop such as holland and Barrett) you can take up to 9 capsules a day when you have a cold then take 1 or 2 a day as a precaution. it really does work. you could also try homemade chicken soup.
