Convert in the Oxford English Dictionary = to cause (a person) to change belief. People do this because:
1. They are convinced of the truth of their belief (e.g. evolution is true)
2. They see the harm in the belief system of the person they are speaking to (e.g. religious beliefs may be perceived as oppressive)
3. They feel better about themselves by dominating others - more of a personality issue.
4. They consider that the choice of belief system has eternal consequences (e.g. in the case say of Christians or Muslims).
5. They have very high entry requirements for knowledge, and thus, think of it as their duty to debunk claims to knowledge that in their view do not measure up (e.g. some who hold to scientism, may feel duty bound to challenge religious folks, because they hold to beliefs that can not be scientifically verified)

Actually, we are doing what Christ commanded us to do. Go into all the world and preach the gospel. The gospel message is good news. In a world of hate and killings and other terrible things, it is good to know that God is going to make all things right some day. It is good news to hear that God loves us enough to die to save our souls. It is good news to know that Jesus can help you live a full life here on earth. All we really need to do, is tell you, after that it is up to the Holy Spirit to show you the truth of the gospel.

Because our collective beliefs inform our social systems. Why do you think the fundies are trying to wedge theism into the public schools? On the other hand, I'm gay, but I was born into a society which persecutes gay people based on Bronze Age tribal superstitions preserved in the institutions of religion, so it's in my interest to enlighten people in that respect. There's a very real, very practical reason why it's important to sway others over to your side. Even our notion of "freedom of choice" is only one kind of "value judgement" based on a particular type of belief system. "History is written by the winners."

Nobody should feel they must convert others.
Besides, the only one who can convert you is you.
It is true that some on here, present themselves quite forcefully, but if they are sincere ...it should be taken with a grain of salt.
No converting ...just making things absolutely clear.

When I go on here and talk about my beliefs I have never expected someone else to convert. I simply believe that my beliefs are as relevent as everyone else's is.

The human desire to conquer, which is ruled by pride. I cannot convert anyone to Christianity. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts of sin and Jesus that dos the saving. All I do is tell people about Jesus.

Lol, dude. that's large which you're changing to Islam. yet adult men can no longer resemble females. If somebody observed you wearing a niqab, they could anticipate you're a female. you're able to be modest without wearing a niqab. If females supply you interest, enable them to. only decrease your individual gaze.
