Try a different furniture placement then add a couple of different accents that go together and are the type of style you like. For instance a toile pillow on the bed and a toile vase with flowers on a side table. Or for modern looks try a different texture like bamboo accents and oriental looking candles.

IKEA has a great variety of decor options that are inexpensive and very modern / fresh. If you have one near you I definitely recommend taking the day to check it out. otherwise, they are online as well and have a catalog.
I was able to re design my entire bedroom space - new furniture and new everything for under $600.00. Which means adding new fresh touches is very easy for under 100.00
New Drapes/Curtains, a new floor rug and new bedding is a great way to get a new look. (I agree with previous poster on that one )
Also, consider some artwork as a focal point. Shelving is a great way to get clutter off the surfaces and also highlight special knick knacks.
If you don't have IKEA as an option, Target has some great stuff for fairly reasonable prices. And they also put items on sale a lot, so check back frequently until you find all the right items you need.

I have recently remodled my bedroom on a very tight budget. Be creative. At Pier One they have a round frame which can be hung from hooks or decorative chains. You hang this thing over your bed and drape it with some lacy cloth. Lace from floor to ceiling all around your bed, very romantic! You can also use flat bed sheets in all different colors to make beautiful curtains, try second hand or consignment shops. Sheets are usually about 1 or 2 dollars a peice. I used five different colors to match the comforter which I got at a yard sale for 5 dollars. Decorating on a tight budget is a great way to embrace your creative side.

Then work on the bed and windows.Usually the drapes are expensive,so go to Walmarts and find material(lots-cheap) that catches your eye.Take it home cut it length ways then drape it over your existing curtains.Put some shine in it.Stay with a plain color for your spread,so you can decorate around it.You can then take strips of the fabric and knot it up,then drape over mirror or picture frame. Then get a scatter rug for the side of the bed.Throw pillow with color...Hope it helps.

check the discount bins for wall border that would enhance the paint. Material placed above the headboard will resemble a canopy. Lamps with warm bulbs (yellow color) on each side of the bed. A piece of furniture at the foot of the bed and or a chair will add interest

You could start by just re-arranging the furniture. Sometimes that makes a huge difference. Or maybe just add another peice of furniture that you have in another room.
I would definately check out some second-hand shops and places like that. You find a cheap area rug that can brighten up your room. Not everything has to match. When you buy things that someone else has already used, it gives it character and can add alot of character to your room.

What is your color? A new bedroom ensemble related to your color is the best way to go on that budget and will give you a whole new look.

New bedding and drapes are a good way to freshen up a room. Rearrange it to offer a new look as well. Bring in some live or artifical greenery. Or a new rug.
