and was told by the doctor yesterday that it will be the cause of my death. I am 36 with a 4 year old son. Single mum too. It is a matter of when I was told. It was made clear to me I will die before I am 40 if I do not give up smoking. So, IT MUST BE DONE! I do not drink and although I do suffer with chest complaints and always have from aged 14, was wondering what other lifestyle changes I can make? My son needs his Mum and I love my life...I have noo desire for it to end! But I was in so much shock yesterday when I saw the doctor, I did not take in all he said. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN...Thanks..x

Pleurisy can be treated. So, don't take his words too literally (he meant to shock you and to make you accept the severity). Pl. give up smoking and detox yourself. Go for healthy foods including a lot of vegetables. Take up Yoga and you may even reverse the damage already done. Homeopathy can help you. Pl. check http://www.hpathy.com for more advice.

I had an attack of pleurisy a couple of years ago, thought I was having heart attack, I was about 33 then, the doc gave me Morphine (very pleasent acctualy, I saved some for when I was feeling better!) and I was fine within a week or so, and still smoking. Doc told me its when the lung inflames and sticks to the inside of your chest, so giving up smoking is a good idea, and I recon excersise will help clear any crap off your lungs quicker when you are feeling a little better, but I realy recomend going back to the doc, getting help with getting off the fags and some lifestyle pointers. Good luck

I would get a second opinion from another doctor. Pleurisy generally is treatable, although treatment may require hospitalization.

GIVE UP THE FAGS!
Eat sensibly, and get plenty of exercise.
Thats a good start anyway!

next to that.... you will drown due to abnormal increase of fluids
in your lungs. so if i were you, i will seek pulmonologist evaluation
as soon as possible.
