I am planning on dying my hair with a semi permanent hair color tomorrow but I would also like to add highlights to my hair in two weeks. I am wondering if this will cause any damage or result in the highlights not processing to its full color potential. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me. Thank You!

I forgot to mention I will be doing this at home. I am using Kiss Express semi permanent hair color and coming back with African Pride hi-Lites. I would also like to mention that my hair was died two months ago as well.

Well that isn't the best idea not knowing what your hairstylist is going to use for your highlights. I suggest you ask the person who is going to do your highlights.
If you start messing with it before you will make a mess out of the whole thing.
Good Luck

Rather than go for a permanent hair colour most salons will offer a free consultation. It's best to get expert advice on matters like this. A patch test would be advisable as you maybe allergic to hair dyes. If you have never coloured your hair before this is important. To answer the questions a) permanent hair dye is exactly that you will have to grow it out, you can have the colour stripped but it's very damaging to the hair & there is much hair loss b)semi-permanent will fade as you wash your hair c) highlights involve lightning dark hair so no the highlighted hair will not revert to it's original colour Finally if you are considering dying your hair please consider it being done professionally rather than doing it at home it's worth it and avoids the tragedies you sometimes see walking the streets Ps before I get hate mail not all individuals who colour their own hair do it badly

Girlfriend, you may want to be very care full with what you are planning to do to your hair.First thing you have to do is make sure that you are not over processing your hair that may cause breakage the likes of which you do not want to see.I can visualize the look that you want and my best answer for you question is go to a professional. At the salon they can get you the highlighted look that you want in one day and you don't have to worry about hair damage.Plus you will get a great hair trim and conditioning treatment that will lift your spirits.Good Luck.

Yes, you can do that but the highlights might take longer to process. Semi-permanent hair color just coats the hair shaft, so the highlight will have to work a little harder to break thru the color.

I dye my hair all the time, and sometimes u can do both on the same day. I wouldn't recommend it, but it should be ok. Whenever u highlight your hair u are damaging it, but it seems your hair is in good shape and if u don't do it all the time, it should be ok.
Good luck, it should turn out ok.

It shouldn't hurt your hair at all. The highlights might not turn out as good or stay as long as you would like though.

i think you can, but you should really talk to the person who is going to die your hair in two weeks. you have to know that all stylists are different. i have done that before, and when i went to a certain stylist a week later, she said she was able to do it, and it came out great, but the second time around, i went to a different stylist because mine was out on vacation for two months and that lady said she couldn't do anything about it. so if i were you, id talk to it to the person who will die your hair in two weeks. good luck! :)
