I have a black kitten, and he has suddenly gotten bits of white fur around his ears; does anyone know why this would happen?

As an animal starts maturing, other colors often come out. I have a Shep. mix who was ALL black when I got her at 7 months. As she started to mature, some brown fur started to come through.

I have a black cat that was all black when i got him and as he matured..he got maybe 10 white hairs on his chest.

He is maturing and his less dominant colors are 'coming in' so to speak...believe it or not it is EXTREMELY rare to find a black cat with absolutely NO white markings [however small or hidden]

Somewhere in the family tree he had a relative with with on them and they passed it down to your kitten. He may change more as he grows older.

Probably new fur is growing in, and it's just a new color. Just wait and see what happens.
