You didn't indicate if it was open or closed. If opened, a bottle will still be drinkable for a couple of days or so. Unless it is a port, then it will last almost indefinately. If not opened and you are just looking to store a bottle, then it depends on varietal and storage conditions.
Reds generally age better than whites, the higher the level of tannic acids the better they age.
The optimum storage space will be cool, dark, and stable. Excessive heat, light, or movement all have an adverse effect on wine.
You might have the perfect storage space with the right type of wine but still have spoilage due to faulty cork or a bottle that wasn't properly sanitized prior to being filled.
If everything is right, you could have a wine age nicely for twenty, thirty or more years. Of course, who wants to keep a bottle around for that long, the stuff is meant to be enjoyed.

Wine can get previous no matter if that is opened. My journey with it really is been about 2-3 months on the counter. If its contained in the refrigerator it ought to very last more. The wine develops a movie on the interior and style rank. in case you save the bottle without starting up it, it ought to age gracefully...

I wouldn't keep an opened bottle of wine to drink more than a week. After that I use it up in my gravies and sauces.

Jeeeez, some people give a long answer for easy questions.....Unopened, it will last till ya crack it open, and open, it will lose its best taste after a couple days, but is still safe to drink for a month or so!
